Plant-Based Diets: The Benefits

Plant-based diets, when planned with care, have been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and more. Plants provide high amounts of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants for fighting disease and maintaining optimal wellness. This is not to say that one must eat plant-based 100% of the time in order to reap the benefits. Studies strongly suggest that a higher intake of plant protein is associated with greater longevity. As Hippocrates once said, “let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”
